AFTER HOURS CLINICS (AHC)

The 29 physicians of the Trafalgar Sheddon & Associates Family Health Organization (FHO) take turns seeing FHO patients with urgent problems after hours. Usual hours of operation of these after hours clinics are: 

Monday to Friday: 5pm-7:30pm (call the clinic directly after 4:30pm to register)

              Saturday: 9am-2:30pm (call the clinic directly after 8:30am to register)

All AHC appointments are booked by calling in first. DO NOT show up to the clinic without calling. If calling any after hours clinics, please call after 4:30pm only.

If you are having severe symptoms (e.g. severe pain, vomiting blood, chest pain, significant shortness of breath) please do NOT come to the after hours clinic but instead call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department. 

Waiting Room

Please AVOID the use of walk-in clinics outside of our after-hours services.

  • Frequent use of walk-in clinics  could compromise the quality of your healthcare.

  • Walk-in clinics typically don't share your visit records with your primary doctor,

  • Your family physician may be charged by the Ministry of Health for the cost of your walk-in visit.

  • Making frequent visits to  walk-in clinics could even result in beingde-rostered from your physician’s practice, losing access to virtual care options, and potentially being dismissed from your family doctor’s practice

We CANNOT see the following conditions in After Hours Clinic

Please book an appointment with your own family doctor for these issues

WE WILL NOT DO

  • Preventative Health Exams (aka Annual Physicals

  • Pre-operative assessments

  • Prescription renewals 

  • Controlled Substance Requests or Refills

    • ADHD medications​

    • Opioids

    • Sleeping pills

    • Benzodiazepines

These all require ongoing monitoring from your family physician and are unsafe and inappropriate to start/complete through after-hours clinic 

WE CANNOT ASSIST YOU WITH

  • Reviewing test results

  • Requesting referrals

  • Completing forms

These all require knowledge and background from your family physician and are unsafe and are inappropriate to address at the after-hours clinic 

WE CANNOT PERFORM

  •  injections

  •  immunizations

  • TB skin tests

  • ear syringing 

  • wound care

  • dressing changes

  •  suturing

  • wart treatments 

​

These all require staff/nursing assistance and/or longer appointment times which we do not have the ability to accommodate at the after hours clinics.
